The Super Flattering Maxi Skirt – 10 Beautiful Prints - in time for the warm weather!

With temperatures set to climb (hello British summer!) next week, there’s been no better moment to slip into something light, breezy, pretty and confidence boosting! Enter: our flattering maxi skirt – not just another flowy number – it’s the one that you will reach for again and again!

I get asked so many questions about Maxi Skirts and how and how not to wear them, I thought that it would be useful to answer some of your questions in this blog… I hope that this helps and please do let me know if you have any others!

What makes the KaHo Prints Maxi Skirt Different?

While most maxi skirts tend to swamp with too much fabric around the waistband, it is easy to finish up looking like a boiled sweet! I design and cut the KaHo skirt so that it doesn’t have oodles of fabric around the waist and it falls from the comfortable elasticated waistband and skims the hips.

Light enough for Summer and perfect whatever your plans…

Made in gorgeous Indian cotton – the KaHo skirt is breathable, keeps you super cool and importantly holds its shape and is not see through! It’s ideal for our famously unpredictable British summer – no cling, no creases – just comfort and pretty prints!

How do you style a maxi skirt without looking frumpy?

It is important to balance the volume of a tiered maxi skirt with a top that is tucked in or that is slightly more fitted. It’s also important to show a bit of ankle or wear something with a slight heel to elongate your look.

How can I style the same maxi skirt for different events?

Our well-cut maxi skirt is one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. Here’s how you can make the same skirt work for different moments:

Everyday Casual: Throw on a simple t-shirt, tank top, trainers for an effortless daytime look

Working Lunch / Summer Party: Tuck in a smart shirt, pair with a KaHo velvet quilted jacket add a belt to define the waist and finish with heels or sleek flats.

Evening Chill: Pair with a oversized denim jacket, statement earrings and boots if chillier..

This isn’t just another maxi skirt – it’s your go-to for easy to wear, very flattering Spring and Summer dressing without the faff!

Can short people wear maxi skirts?

Absolutely! The KaHo Maxi skirt is designed to be an ankle length skirt and not a floor length maxi skirt. It can be worn high waisted if your’re shorter or on the hips if taller. The models in my photos on my website are between 5ft4” and 5ft6” – so they are not the usual super tall models – you will be able to see that the skirts are not too long on them.
You can also add a heel to help create a longer look.

What shoes go with a maxi skirt?

Honestly, there are so many shoes that go with a maxi skirt, it really depends on the vibe that you are going for.

If you’re dashing around and doing lots of walking then I would always go for a super comfortable trainer. The most comfortable ones that I have ever found are the Spring

Court Plimsolls – they are like walking on air! These are available to by through Moloh.

For the evening – I really like a Velvet Mary Jane – Penelope Chilvers have some really lovely ones pictured Low Mary Jane Velvet Shoe (along with the matching clutch).

If the weather is poor, which lets face it, it can be in the summer – then I would pair with a tan ankle boots. Again, my favourites are from Penelope Chilvers – the Betty Fringe Ladies Suede boots – pictured above. They have just the right amount of heel and are so comfortable to wear!

Can you wear a maxi skirt to work?

Yes – the KaHo Skirts are really good quality cotton and are therefore not see through!

I think that this is the question that I get asked most often as lots of Indian cotton clothing can be underwear revealing!

I am a Cotton lover and spend considerable time choosing the correct weight of cotton for all my products. The clothing cotton is soft, comfortable but importantly not transparent! This is important as our skirts don’t need to be lined adding more heat (a lining traps more hot air) and fabric (which adds more bulk) therefore keeping the skirt as flattering as possible.

What body types look good in a maxi skirt?

Honestly all body types can rock them! It is about choosing the right shape for you.

I have 2 different cuts of skirt – one is the traditional tiered maxi skirt for UK sizes 8-14.

For larger sizes UK 16+, then I have a plus size shape which is not tiered but instead has a straight skirt with one tier at the bottom.  It has elastic only on the back therefore giving a longer silhouette with a flattering flat front which is great for curvier bodies.

Can you wear a Maxi skirt to a wedding?

Yes, especially if it’s an elegant or pretty print and you pair it with a smart jacket such as the KaHo Quilted Velvet jacket.. You can tie the velvet jacket in with some colourful velvet Mary Jane shoes or heels and a clutch and it will look super smart and very elegant – easy effortless Sprint / Summer style!

Can you combine a KaHo Skirt with a KaHo Shirt as a co-ord?

Absolutely – they work brilliantly together and worn with a belt they look like a dress.
The beauty of a co-ord is that you get 3 different outfits with 2 pieces:

  1. The KaHo shirt – which can be worn in so many different ways with skirts, jeans, shorts etc
  2. The KaHo skirt – one of the most versatile pieces that you will ever buy that can be dressed up or worn in a very relaxed style.
  3. Combined – worn as a dress

Are maxi skirts good for travel?

They are possibly the best item of clothing for travel – cool, comfortable, breathable and you can wear them super casually or without much effort dress them up to look smart.

The cotton is wonderful, does not cling to you, is not see through and does not overly crease.

The vibrant colours and stunning prints also all look wonderful in the sunshine!!

They also importantly roll up in your packing and take up very little space.

Are maxi skirts good presents for teenagers?

You cannot go wrong with a maxi skirt for a teen – they can wear them to the beach with a bikini, to a festival with a hoodie or when they need to look smart for a family event they can pair with a white t-shirt and a v-neck jumper. They make great presents and are trendy and super popular with the young…

How do you wash a KaHo Prints skirt?

KaHo Prints maxi skirts wash beautifully due to the good quality cotton that they are made of.

It is best to wash them on a 30 degree delicates wash and line dry them out of direct sunlight.
If you give them a good shake while they are wet and dry them flat then you can get away without ironing them!

Are the KaHo Prints Maxi Skirts made sustainably?

Sustainability is incredibly important for us… All the cotton that we use is Organic Indian cotton. It is also the right weight so that it is not transparent, meaning that the skirts are not lined therefore consuming more fabric!

The inks used in the printing process are AZO free – meaning that they are kinder to the local waterways and the environment.

There is no wastage from any of the KaHo clothing – all our off cuts are either used to make small gifting products, used to cover gorgeous jotter note books or pulped to make our cotton gift wrap.

Because our clothing is made from a good quality weight cotton – it also means that the garments last longer and can be treasured pieces in your wardrobes for years to come.

More information about our sustainable production can be found on our website.
